About Us
Delhi Economic Theory Workshop is a forum where the economic theorists of Delhi area (and others) can meet on a regular basis to present their work and get valuable feedback.
We envisage the presentations in this workshop series to have the flavor of brown bag seminars that are a key feature of many economics departments. That is, we want this to be a forum where people feel encouraged to present their work at a more preliminary stage than they would in, say, a conference. That way critical feedback can be provided at the early stages of a project, which we believe has great value. Indeed, we encourage the same project to be presented again at a later stage of its development highlighting the changes and improvements. We believe that this process will allow us to be more connected with each other's work and operate more effectively as a research community.
We do not want to restrict this workshop series to any particular area of economic theory. We welcome presentations in all areas of economic theory and its applications.
Our plan, as of now, is to meet five times in the academic year. To avoid having to coordinate on dates, we propose that we commit to meeting on the first Saturdays of August, October, December, February and April. Our first meeting will be on August 6, 2016. In each meeting we hope to have three to four presentations. Each presentation will be allotted 90 mins, although shorter presentations won't be discouraged.
The workshop series will be self-financing. There will be a registration fees of about INR 200 per meeting to pay for lunch and refreshments. As of now, the workshops will be at Indian Statistical Institute, Delhi - although we are not averse to hosting it in other institutions if the logistics can be worked out.
